The 6" length is our best seller for everyday comfort
Flissie boxers are sized to UK standard women's sizes from UK 8 to UK 30, in both 6" and 9" inseam lengths. The fit sits close to the skin without compressing. The 5% elastane gives stretch and recovery, so the boxers move with you and stay in place.
Flissie boxers rely on full skin contact to glide rather than bunch. Sizing down compromises the anti-chafing function, and most between-size customers say the smaller size never quite stops feeling tight.

From Boody, Step One, or M&S: Flissie runs true to UK size. Take your normal UK size.
From TomboyX, Knix, or other US brands: convert to UK first, as US sizing typically runs one to two sizes smaller in numeric labelling.
No. Both inseams share the same waist sizing, so pick by leg-length preference, not size.
Of our 336 reviews, counted in October 2026. Those are the two things customers say over and over, usually in the same sentence.
95% Tanboocel bamboo viscose with 5% elastane. Soft from the first wear rather than needing breaking in, breathable, and it moves moisture rather than holding it against you. Smooth seams, no tag.
It feels like these boxers were made to fit my body! So comfy, the waistband doesn't dig in, soft and fitting fabric that doesn't roll up. Wish I'd found them sooner, definitely will buy more!!
I love hot weather undies and these are the softest I've tried. So comfortable I hardly know I'm wearing them, brilliant!
A leg long enough to reach where thighs actually touch, a wide waistband that does not dig, and fabric that stays cool through a long day. UK sizes 8 to 30, one price every size.
95% Tanboocel bamboo viscose with 5% elastane, the same fabric across our whole bamboo underwear range. Soft from the first wear rather than needing breaking in, breathable and temperature-regulating, and it moves moisture rather than holding it against the skin. Smooth seams, no tag. Dyed to OEKO-TEX Standard 100, which means the finished fabric is tested for harmful substances.
Choose 6 inch or 9 inch. The 6 inch sits mid-thigh and is the everyday choice. The 9 inch sits just above the knee, for anyone who wants more coverage, and comes in black and pine green.
Sometimes called boxer briefs, though most of those stop at 2 to 4 inches. Ours reach past where thighs touch, which is what actually stops the rubbing.
Small to 3XL: UK 8 to 30. The leg opening and waistband width are graded separately rather than simply scaled up, which is why the leg still sits flat at the larger end. Take your normal UK size, and size up if you are between two. Our plus size page shows live stock for UK 16 to 30.
Mid-high waisted, wide and flat rather than a narrow band of elastic. If you would rather it sat above a fuller tummy, size up. A number of customers do exactly that.
Cool wash at 30 degrees or below, no fabric softener, air dry. Bamboo viscose is fussier in the wash than cotton, so it pays to wash it gently.

The fabric of your underwear sits against your skin all day. It decides whether you chafe, sweat, itch, or simply forget you're wearing anything. Here is an honest breakdown, including the two things cotton does better.
| Feature | Flissie bamboo viscose | Cotton | Synthetic |
|---|---|---|---|
| Anti-chafing coverage | 6" or 9" leg covers the inner thigh | Briefs leave thighs exposed | Only if the leg is long enough |
| Soft from the first wear | Soft immediately, no breaking in | Moderate, softens over time | Can feel slick or plasticky |
| Moisture handling | Moves moisture rather than holding it | Absorbs it, then stays damp | Wicks fast but traps heat |
| Temperature regulation | Breathable, helps you stay cool | Neutral, no active regulation | Heats up against the skin |
| Waistband | Wide band, designed not to dig | Depends on the brand | Tight bands can mark the skin |
| Tested for harmful substances | Dyed to OEKO-TEX Standard 100 | Varies by brand and dye | Varies by brand and dye |
| Easy to wash | Cool wash, no softener, air dry | Forgiving. Hot wash, tumble dry, fine | Durable in the wash, dries fast |
| Price per pair | £20, or about £13 in a 7 pack | From around £3 in a multipack | From around £4 in a multipack |
Good Mixed Poor
Bamboo viscose is a regenerated cellulose fibre made from bamboo pulp. It is soft from the first wear, breathable, and temperature-regulating. Ours is Tanboocel, made in a closed-loop process where the solvent used to extract the fibre is recovered and reused rather than discharged, and without carbon disulfide. It is the same family as Lyocell and Modal. The trade-off is that it needs looking after: cool wash, no fabric softener, air dry. Our honest guide to bamboo underwear covers what it does and does not do.
Cotton is breathable, cheap and by far the most forgiving in the wash. Its weakness is that it absorbs moisture and holds onto it, which is why it feels damp after you sweat. For everyday wear in cool weather, a well-made cotton pair is a perfectly sensible choice, and it is what most gynaecological guidance still points to. We compare fabrics for sensitive skin in our guide to fabric and sensitive skin.
Synthetic blends dry fastest and last longest in the wash, which is why they dominate sportswear. They trap heat, and they shed microplastics with every wash.
Leg length, mostly. Womens boxer briefs typically stop 2 to 4 inches down the thigh. Boxer shorts run longer, and ours are 6 or 9 inches. That difference decides whether they reach the point where thighs actually touch, which is what stops the rubbing. Brands use both names loosely, so check the inseam measurement rather than the product name.
Womens boxers, women's boxer shorts, boxer briefs for women, ladies boxer shorts and boyshorts all get used for roughly the same garment, and the names change more than the product does. What actually varies is the leg length. Ours are boxer shorts with a 6 or 9 inch leg. We go through the whole naming muddle in our guide to what women's boxer shorts are called.
It depends what you are solving. If thighs rubbing is the problem, leg length is the only specification that matters, and most brands stop between 2 and 4 inches. Boody are genuinely seamfree if an invisible line is your priority. Step One are cheaper with far more prints. Runderwear dry fastest for hard exercise. We publish our leg length, 6 or 9 inches, and go to UK 30. The comparison table above sets the main ones side by side, and we review 10 women's boxer brands in more depth.
Yes, and plenty do. Boxers have been marketed at men for a century, which is the only reason the question comes up. Boxers for women are shaped differently through the hip and seat and sized to UK women's sizes rather than graded down from a men's block. We go through the usual objections in our guide to whether women can wear boxers.
95% Tanboocel bamboo viscose and 5% elastane. Tanboocel is a closed-loop bamboo viscose where the solvent used to process the fibre is recovered and reused rather than discharged, and without carbon disulfide. The fabric is soft from the first wear rather than needing breaking in, breathable, and temperature-regulating. Smooth seams, no tag, dyed to OEKO-TEX Standard 100. Every colour is in our bamboo underwear collection.
The 6" sits mid-thigh. It is our best seller and the everyday choice: it covers the top of the inner thigh where most rubbing starts, comes in every colour and size, and works under skirts, dresses and gym shorts. The 9" sits about an inch above the knee, for anyone who wants more coverage, and comes in black and pine green. Both share the same waist sizing, so pick by leg length rather than size.
For warm days and long days, generally yes. Bamboo viscose moves moisture rather than absorbing and holding it the way cotton does, so it does not go clammy. Cotton is cheaper and far more forgiving in the wash. We compare them properly in our two-year switch.
When you're between sizes, size up. Flissie boxer shorts need full skin contact to glide rather than bunch, so going down a size works against the anti-chafing function. Most between-size customers say the larger size feels exactly right after one wear.
Yes. Every size from UK 8 to UK 30, at the same price. The 6 inch comes in every colour; the 9 inch comes in black and pine green. The leg opening and waistband width are graded separately rather than simply scaled up, which is why the leg still sits flat at a size 24, size 26 or size 30. Size 18 and size 20 are our most popular at the larger end, and our plus size page shows live stock for UK 16 to 30.
They can, and it is almost always leg length or size. A short leg has more thigh to travel across, so it rolls sooner. Underwear that is too small has to stretch further and grips less evenly. If your thighs rub badly, the 6 inch covers the top of the inner thigh where most rubbing starts, and the 9 inch adds more coverage in black and pine green. If you are between two sizes, size up.
Less than a brief under most things, because the hem sits below the curve of the bottom rather than straight across it, and there is no seam across the back or sides. Under very thin or very light fabric any edge can show, whatever you are wearing. The shade closest to your own skin tone shows least. More on this in our guide to no VPL knickers.
If the size isn't right, your first size swap is free, any time within 60 days. Email community@flissie.com with your order number and the size you'd like, and we usually respond within three working days. Worn and washed pairs are fine.
That is what the longer leg is for. A smooth layer between your thighs means they glide rather than catch, and the 6 or 9 inch leg reaches past the point where thighs actually touch. Most underwear marketed to women stops short of it. We cover the mechanics on our anti-chafing shorts page.
Yes, and a lot of customers use them for exactly that. Bamboo viscose breathes and moves moisture rather than sitting in it, and the longer leg stops thighs rubbing over distance. The 6" is where most people start, for the gym as much as for everyday wear. For high-output running in summer, a technical synthetic will dry faster, and we say so in our gym underwear guide.
It is one of the most common reasons people buy them. Most people choose the 6": it covers the top of the inner thigh where most rubbing starts and stays out of sight under most skirts and dresses. The 9" reaches further down the thigh if you want more coverage under a longer dress.
A lot of customers buy them for both. Take a size up so there is room as your bump grows, and wear them over or under it depending on what feels better. The waistband is wide and flat rather than a narrow band of elastic, and the longer leg deals with the chafing that often arrives when your shape changes. They are not absorbent, so in the early days after birth you still need a pad. Our maternity knickers guide goes through it week by week.

Yes. Orders arrive in a plain, unbranded sugarcane mailing bag with no mention of the product on the outside. Inside, each pair is individually wrapped in compostable corn starch packaging.
Machine wash at 30°C with similar colours, inside out to preserve the dye. Use a gentle detergent and skip fabric softener, which coats bamboo fibres and reduces breathability. Air dry where possible; tumble drying is not recommended and will shorten the fabric's life. Avoid bleach. Our care guide goes into more detail.
Wear them, wash them, and if they are not right, you have 60 days from purchase to swap for a different size or return them for a full refund, worn or not. Your first size swap is free; return postage for refunds is at your cost. Email community@flissie.com with your order number to start.
Lower per-unit packaging, shipping and admin costs let us pass on a real saving. A single pair is £20; the 7 pack works out at roughly £13 a pair for the same boxer shorts. Most customers buy a multi-pack, and it is the pack that unlocks free international delivery.
