We compared eight options, from a £20 pair of shorts to a £190 top and shorts, on what you can check: fabric, price, sizes, delivery and returns, and what each brand says about its own nightwear.

The best menopause nightwear: the quick answer

Quick answer: if you run hot at night, choose lightweight nightwear in a breathable fabric that moves moisture away from your skin, with shorts rather than full-length bottoms, and check whether you can return it once you have slept in it. Of the eight we compared, only two say outright that you can: ours, within 60 days, and Dagsmejan, within 14.

Menopause pyjamas and cooling nightwear compared

Eight menopause pyjamas and cooling pyjamas women can buy in the UK, checked on each brand's own UK website on 29 September 2026. Ours is first because it is our pick for the bottom half; the rest run from the lowest full price for a top and shorts to the highest. Sale prices are in brackets and change often.

The Oodie, Lands' End, The White Company and Cucumber Clothing use letter sizes, and the pages we read did not map them to UK sizes reliably, so check each brand's size chart.

Cooling pyjamas and nightwear: what the labels have in common

Strip away the brand names and all eight use the same family of fibre, at least in part: viscose, modal or lyocell, made from wood or bamboo pulp. Some add a finish or a named technology on top. This is what the labels say:

• Bamboo viscose: Flissie (ours) and Pretty You London.
• Viscose: Lands' End, with “a cooling finish”, and The White Company, which uses LENZING™ ECOVERO™, a branded viscose, and calls its range “dual-action cooling technology”.
• Modal: The Oodie (87%) and Cyberjammies (40%, with 60% cotton), whose set here carries the MTick certification. M&S describes its Cool Comfort™ shortie set as cotton-modal.
• Lyocell: Dagsmejan, which calls its fabric NATTCOOL™.
• Tencel with polyester: Cucumber Clothing, which adds 37.5® Technology. Tencel is Lenzing's brand name for its lyocell and modal fibres.

These fibres feel smooth and cool against the skin and let moisture move, which is why they turn up again and again in nightwear sold for hot nights. What the NHS suggests for hot nights

The NHS describes hot flushes as when “your face, neck and chest suddenly feel very hot or cold”, and says they can happen at night, as night sweats. Its advice on things you can do includes “wearing lightweight clothing”, “keeping your bedroom cool at night”, and “taking a cool shower, using a fan or having a cold drink”, along with avoiding or reducing “potential triggers, such as spicy food, caffeine, hot drinks, smoking and alcohol”.

Nightwear is one small part of that. The NHS also says to contact your GP if you think you have symptoms of menopause or perimenopause and want to know what your options are.

Shorts, and why the leg length matters

Where these sets give a leg length, the shorts are short. Three brands gave one on the pages we read: Dagsmejan 8cm, about 3 inches, on a size S; Lands' End 10cm, or 4 inches, in its standard sizes and 14cm in its plus sizes; and The Oodie 11.5cm, or 4 and a half inches. A short leg is light and airy. The trade-off: if your thighs touch on a hot night, it leaves them skin to skin.

Why it is our pick for the bottom half: of the options that give UK sizes, it goes the largest, to UK 30. Its 6 inch leg is the longest of those that give a leg length. At £20 a pair, it costs less than any of the separately sold shorts here at full price: The Oodie's are £39, Cucumber's £65 and Dagsmejan's £95. And its 60 day guarantee covers pairs you have slept in (return postage at your cost), where the only other brand here to say so, Dagsmejan, gives 14 days.

Where it is not the best choice: we make no tops, so it is not a set. It is a fitted boxer short, not a loose pyjama short. The waistband is mid-high rather than high, so if you like a high waist, it may feel low. And it starts at UK 8, where Cyberjammies starts at UK 6.

2. Cyberjammies Indigo Womens Dog Print Shorty Set

Best for: the lowest full price of the sets we could price, in UK 6 to 28.

Cyberjammies sells this short-sleeved top and shorts set at £44, reduced to £26 when we checked, in 60% cotton and 40% modal, in sizes 6 to 28. It is part of Cyberjammies' MTick-certified range, and Cyberjammies describes the MTick as “the trusted universal shopping symbol and certification for menopause-friendly products”. It says the fabric is “wicking away moisture, allowing your skin to breathe and helping to regulate your temperature through the night”. It does not give a leg length. UK delivery is £3.95, free over £40, and returns are free within 28 days of ordering, as long as items are unworn with the labels on.

Trade-offs: a dog print, and no returns once you have slept in it.

3. Pretty You London Bamboo Shirt Short Set

Best for: a bamboo viscose set, in UK 8 to 20.

Pretty You London sells this shirt and shorts set at £50, in 95% bamboo viscose and 5% elastane, in sizes 8 to 20. It says the fabric is “naturally breathable” and “temperature regulating”. It does not give a leg length. UK delivery is £3.95, free over £60, and returns are within 30 days, but not for items that have been worn and are not faulty.

Trade-offs: sizes stop at UK 20, and no refund once you have slept in it.

4. Lands' End Women's Cooling Pyjama Set With Shorts

Best for: a long returns window.

Lands' End sells this short-sleeved top and shorts set at £70, in 95% viscose and 5% elastane, which it describes as “lightweight, fluid jersey with a cooling finish”. Sizes run from XS to XL, with plus sizes 1X to 3X. The inside leg is 10cm, or 4 inches, in standard sizes and 14cm in plus sizes. UK delivery is £3.95, free over £85. Refunds are within 90 days of purchase, with a £2.70 charge for the returns service, and Lands' End says it may refuse items with excessive wear and tear.

Trade-offs: letter sizes rather than UK sizes, and a short leg.

5. The White Company Cooling Boxy Henley Shortie Pyjama Set

Best for: a Henley top and shorts.

The White Company sells this short-sleeved Henley top and shorts set at £75, reduced to £45 when we checked, made from LENZING™ ECOVERO™ viscose “with added stretch”, in XS to XL. It says the fabric “feels cool to the touch from the moment you slip it on”. It averages 5 out of 5 from 5 reviews, and it does not give a leg length. The page said both “in stock” and “out of stock online” when we checked, so check before you plan on it. UK delivery is £3.95, free over £60, and you have 14 days to change your mind, as long as items are unused and unwashed.

Trade-offs: uncertain stock, letter sizes, and no returns once you have slept in it.

6. The Oodie Love Candy Cooling Top and Cooling PJ Short

Best for: a stretchy modal top and shorts.

The Oodie sells its cooling short-sleeved top and cooling PJ short separately at £39 each, reduced to £25 each when we checked, in 87% modal and 13% elastane, in S to 3XL. It describes them as “naturally cooling, breathable, and silky soft”. The shorts have an 11.5cm inside leg, and both average 4.5 out of 5, from 16 reviews for the top and 13 for the shorts. One of The Oodie's cooling pyjama pages we checked said it had sold out and others showed sold-out labels, so check stock. Standard delivery is free over £50, and returns are within 30 days in “as new” condition, with the return postage taken off your refund.

Trade-offs: uncertain stock at the end of summer, letter sizes, and a short leg.

7. Cucumber Clothing Ribbon-Tie Top and Shirred Shorts

Best for: free UK delivery on any order.

Cucumber Clothing sells its Ribbon-Tie Top at £89 and Shirred Shorts at £65, in its 37.5® fabric, which it says is Tencel mixed with polyester. The product pages do not give fabric percentages, sizes run from XS to XL, and there is no leg length. Cucumber labels the pieces “Breathable” and “Quick Dry”. UK delivery is free, and UK returns are free within 14 days of delivery, unused and with the tags on.

Trade-offs: the price, and no fabric percentages on the product pages.

8. Dagsmejan Stay Cool T-shirt and Shorts shortie

Best for: a 14 day sleep trial.

Dagsmejan sells its Stay Cool T-shirt and Shorts shortie separately at £95 each, in 92% Microlyocell from eucalyptus and 8% elastane, in sizes XS to 2XL, which it maps to UK 8 to 22. The shorts have an 8cm inside leg on a size S. On its collection page, the T-shirt averages 4.9 out of 5 from 1,030 reviews and the shorts 4.8 from 904. Dagsmejan publishes figures comparing its fabric with cotton, which we have not tested. You can sleep in your new pyjamas for up to 14 days and return them for a full refund. UK delivery is £15.90, free over £150, so a top and shorts together ship free.

• M&S menopause nightwear: Marks and Spencer sells a Cool Comfort™ Cotton Modal Shortie Set with a short-sleeved revere-collar shirt and shorts, and says “Cool Comfort™ technology helps you stay cool as you sleep”. M&S did not describe it as menopause nightwear on the pages we could read, and its website did not show us the price, fabric percentages or sizes on 29 September 2026.
• Primark menopause nightwear and pyjamas: Primark's menopause collection listed briefs, cami tops and a slip dress, from £7 to £12, and the two Primark menopause pyjama pages we found returned errors.
• Matalan menopause pyjamas: Matalan's menopause collection showed no products, and the MTick-approved pyjama sets we found were marked as no longer in stock.

• You want a matching set. We make no tops. Pretty You London's set is the closest to ours in fabric, and Cyberjammies' is the lowest full price of the sets we could price.
• You want full-length bottoms for the chilly part of the night. Cyberjammies' MTick range, M&S's Cool Comfort range and The White Company's cooling range all include sets with full-length bottoms.
• You are a UK 6. Cyberjammies starts at UK 6; ours start at UK 8.
• You like a loose short with air around your legs. Ours are a fitted boxer short.

What we will not tell you

We will not tell you Flissie women's bamboo boxer shorts help with night sweats or hot flushes. No nightwear treats either; a breathable fabric that moves moisture away from your skin can only make a damp night more comfortable. You will see menopause nightwear sold with bigger promises than that, menopause pyjamas included. We will not tell you bamboo viscose is antibacterial or hypoallergenic: the antimicrobial compound sometimes cited for raw bamboo does not survive the viscose manufacturing process, and hypoallergenic is not a claim we can support for a finished fabric.
