A perimenopause supplement built on the claims we are allowed to make

A perimenopause supplement, and a daily hormone health supplement for the years before it. Built on Vitamin B6, which carries five authorised health claims, with ten botanicals described by their traditional use, led by KSM-66 Ashwagandha at 600mg. Sold elsewhere as perimenopause vitamins, tablets or capsules; ours is three capsules a day, 90 per tub.

For perimenopause

Vitamin B6 contributes to the regulation of hormonal activity. Wild Yam and Maca are traditionally used in women's herbal support during the years around perimenopause. No soya isoflavones, no red clover, so it sits alongside HRT if your GP is happy with that.

For hormone health, every day

One vitamin carries the authorised claims and we cite them exactly. Vitamin B6 contributes to the regulation of hormonal activity, to normal psychological function, to normal energy-yielding metabolism, to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue, and to the normal function of the immune system.

For everyday stress

KSM-66® Ashwagandha at 600mg, the dose most commonly used in clinical research, with Rhodiola and Chamomile. All three are traditionally used as adaptogens, a class of botanicals used to help the body adapt to everyday stress. We do not claim this lowers cortisol, because no food supplement is permitted to.

For night-time calm

Chamomile is traditionally used to support relaxation and restful sleep, paired with Ashwagandha. If you are the kind of tired that cannot switch off, this is the part of the formula aimed at you, and most customers take the larger share of the dose in the evening.

For energy dips

Vitamin B6 contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism and to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. Maca and Rhodiola are traditionally used to support vitality during demanding periods, which is why Rhodiola tends to suit the morning dose.

For the week before your period

Chaste Tree (Vitex) is traditionally used to support a regular monthly cycle and premenstrual comfort, with Fennel traditionally used for digestive comfort. Vitamin B6 contributes to normal psychological function. Not suitable alongside hormonal contraception; see the safety notes below.

Vitamin B6 health claims are authorised on the GB Nutrition & Health Claims Register. Botanical claims are based on traditional use and are not authorised health claims. This is a food supplement, not a treatment for perimenopause or any other condition, and it should not be used as a substitute for a varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.

What a perimenopause supplement is, and what to look for

Perimenopause supplements are food supplements aimed at women in the years before their periods stop, usually from the early 40s, sometimes earlier. Most are built one of two ways: around phytoestrogens such as soya isoflavones and red clover, or around adaptogens such as ashwagandha and rhodiola, with vitamins and minerals alongside. None of them is a medicine, and none of them is permitted to say it treats perimenopause.

What a supplement can say in the UK is limited to authorised claims, and in this category nearly all of those belong to vitamins and minerals rather than botanicals. Vitamin B6 contributes to the regulation of hormonal activity and to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. Botanicals sit on a list that has never been assessed, so the honest brands describe them by traditional use and stop there. If you arrived here looking for a cortisol supplement, our guide to supplements to reduce cortisol covers what that category can and cannot do.

Four things worth checking before you buy any perimenopause supplement.

  1. Which claims are authorised, and which are traditional use

The tell. A brand that promises to ease hot flushes, balance your hormones or fix your sleep is making claims no food supplement is allowed to make. The ASA banned five women's health supplement ads for exactly this in March 2026.

Ours: five authorised Vitamin B6 claims, cited exactly. Ten botanicals described by traditional use, and nothing else.

  2. The ashwagandha dose and form

If the formula leans on ashwagandha, look for a standardised extract at a dose used in research, not raw root powder at an unstated strength.

Ours: KSM-66® at 600mg a day, the extract most published clinical trials have used.

  3. Whether the extracts are standardised

A standardised extract guarantees a consistent level of active compounds in every batch. Raw powdered herbs vary enormously between harvests.

Ours: every botanical is a standardised extract, from 8:1 to 20:1.

  4. What is in it, at what dose, and what is left out

Many formulas lean on one ingredient and pad the rest, and many are built on phytoestrogens without saying so. Check the dose beside every name, and check for soya isoflavones and red clover if you would rather avoid them or you take HRT.

Ours: all 11 doses published in full, just below. No soya isoflavones, no red clover.

What's inside: every ingredient, every dose

Ten botanicals plus Vitamin B6, eleven ingredients in a three-capsule daily dose, every one of them at a published amount. Tap any ingredient to see the breakdown, its traditional or authorised use, and the safety information.

Other ingredients

Capsule shell: hydroxypropylmethylcellulose (HPMC). No fillers, no artificial colours, no animal-derived ingredients.

Vitamin B6 health claims are authorised on the GB Nutrition & Health Claims Register. Botanical descriptions are based on traditional use and are not authorised health claims under retained Regulation (EC) No 1924/2006. This is a food supplement, not a treatment for perimenopause or any other condition, and it should not be used as a substitute for a varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.

How it works: four jobs, one daily dose

Three capsules a day, covering the four things a perimenopause supplement for women can honestly be built around. Every line below is either an authorised Vitamin B6 health claim or the documented traditional use of a botanical, and nothing else.

01

Hormonal activity

Vitamin B6 contributes to the regulation of hormonal activity, the one authorised claim in this category that says the word, and we cite it exactly. Wild Yam and Maca are traditionally used in women's herbal support during the years around perimenopause.

We do not claim this balances your hormones or treats perimenopause. No food supplement is permitted to, and the ASA banned five ads in March 2026 for saying so.

Vitamin B6 Wild Yam Maca
02

Everyday stress

KSM-66® Ashwagandha at 600mg, Rhodiola Rosea and Chamomile are traditionally used as adaptogens, a class of botanicals used to help the body adapt to everyday stress. Vitamin B6 contributes to normal psychological function and the normal functioning of the nervous system.

We do not claim this lowers cortisol. There is no authorised health claim for that in the UK, and any brand telling you otherwise is over-claiming.

Ashwagandha Rhodiola Chamomile Vitamin B6
03

Cycle support

Chaste Tree (Vitex) is traditionally used to support a regular monthly cycle and premenstrual comfort, and Fennel is traditionally used for cycle-related digestive comfort. Both are long-standing women's herbal botanicals, and both are here at published doses.

Not suitable alongside hormonal contraception. Chaste Tree may interfere with the pill, mini pill, hormonal IUS or implant; see the safety notes in the ingredient table.

Chaste Tree Fennel
04

Energy & mood

Vitamin B6 contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism, the reduction of tiredness and fatigue, and normal psychological function. Maca, Rhodiola and Ashwagandha are traditionally used to support vitality and stamina during demanding periods.

Vitamin B6 Maca Rhodiola Ashwagandha

Vitamin B6 Authorised health claim on the GB Nutrition & Health Claims Register. Botanical Traditional use. Not an authorised health claim.

Broccoli Sprout, Gymnema Sylvestre and Rosemary also feature in the blend at published doses; we make no claim for them, because none is authorised. Every ingredient and every dose is in the table above.

Where a perimenopause supplement fits, and where it doesn't

There is no single answer here, and anyone telling you otherwise is selling something. Here is an honest look at the four options a woman in her 40s is usually weighing, including the ones that are not us.

Flissie Hormone Health HRT Single-ingredient supplements Other perimenopause blends

Yes Depends No

This is probably for you if

  • You are in perimenopause, or the years before it, and want daily support across stress, energy and your cycle rather than one thing at a time
  • You would rather avoid phytoestrogens, or you take HRT and want a supplement that does not add to it
  • You are not at the point of considering HRT, or you would rather start with a supplement and talk to your GP as you go
  • You want the claims traceable: every line on this page is either an authorised Vitamin B6 claim or a documented traditional use
  • You want something you can take for the long term, not a six week fix

This is probably not for you if

  • Your symptoms are affecting daily life. Speak to your GP about HRT.
  • You use hormonal contraception. Chaste Tree is not suitable alongside the pill, mini pill, hormonal IUS or implant.
  • You have, or are at risk of, a hormone-sensitive cancer, endometriosis or fibroids.
  • You are pregnant, breastfeeding or trying to conceive.
  • You take thyroid medication. Ashwagandha may affect thyroid hormone levels, so speak to your GP first.
  • Your periods stopped more than a year ago. This is built for perimenopause, not post-menopause.

Hormone Health is a food supplement. It is not a replacement for HRT, medical advice or prescribed medication, and it does not treat perimenopause or any other condition. If your symptoms are affecting daily life, speak to your GP. Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.

About perimenopause supplements

What should I take if I am perimenopausal?

Speak to your GP first if symptoms are affecting daily life, because HRT is the treatment with the evidence behind it and no supplement is a substitute for it. If you want a daily food supplement alongside that, choose by authorised claims rather than promises. Vitamin B6 contributes to the regulation of hormonal activity and to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue, which is why it anchors ours.

What are the best supplements for perimenopause?

There is no authorised answer, because no botanical holds an authorised health claim for perimenopause. The honest way to choose is by what a product is allowed to say: vitamins with authorised claims, botanicals at published doses, and no symptom promises. Health & Her, Wild Nutrition and Vitabiotics Menopace are the established UK ranges; most are built on phytoestrogens such as soya isoflavones and red clover. Ours is built on Vitamin B6 and adaptogens, with no phytoestrogens, which makes it a better fit if you are avoiding them and a poorer fit if you want them.

How do I balance my hormones during perimenopause?

No food supplement is permitted to claim it balances hormones, and in March 2026 the ASA banned five that did. What is authorised is narrower and truer: Vitamin B6 contributes to the regulation of hormonal activity. Beyond that, the evidence points to sleep, strength training, less alcohol and, where symptoms warrant it, HRT through your GP.

Do hormone balancing supplements actually work?

It depends what "work" means. The botanicals in this category sit on the on-hold list because the evidence is growing but not settled; the vitamins have authorised claims because theirs is. What we can tell you is exactly what is in ours at what dose, that Vitamin B6 carries five authorised claims, and that our 60 day guarantee exists because 8 to 12 weeks is the honest timescale to judge it over.

Does this lower cortisol?

We are not permitted to claim that, and we would not. There is no authorised health claim in the UK for reducing or lowering cortisol. What we can say is that KSM-66 Ashwagandha, Rhodiola and Chamomile are traditionally used as adaptogens to support the body's response to everyday stress, and that Vitamin B6 contributes to normal psychological function. Our guide to supplements to reduce cortisol goes through the whole category.

Taking it daily

When should I take it, morning or evening, with or without food?

Take 3 capsules daily with food. Most customers split the dose, one or two with breakfast and one with dinner, to spread the adaptogenic ingredients across the day. If you find Ashwagandha relaxing, take more of the dose in the evening; if you find Rhodiola energising, take it in the morning.

How long until I feel it working?

Most clinical research on the key ingredients (KSM-66 Ashwagandha, Chaste Tree, Maca) measures outcomes over 8 to 12 weeks. Some women notice changes in sleep and stress within the first 2 to 3 weeks; cycle-related changes usually take 2 to 3 full menstrual cycles. Our refund window is designed around that realistic timeline.

Can I take it every day, long-term?

Hormone Health is formulated for daily, long-term use as part of a balanced diet and lifestyle. The Vitamin B6 dose (2.07 mg) is well below the UK Vitamins & Minerals Guidance level of 10 mg/day, and the botanical doses are within traditional usage ranges. If you're planning to take it for more than 6 months, it's good practice to mention to your GP at your annual check-up.

Safety & medical questions

Can I take ashwagandha with magnesium?

There is no known interaction and many people take both. Our formula does not contain magnesium, so if you already take it there is no duplication. As with any combination, mention it to your GP or pharmacist if you take prescription medication.

Can I take ashwagandha with sertraline or another antidepressant?

Speak to your GP before starting. Ashwagandha may have additive effects with medications affecting mood or sedation, and the evidence on interactions is limited. This applies to SSRIs including sertraline, and to sedatives and anxiolytics. We would rather you asked than guessed.

Does ashwagandha make you sleepy?

Some people find it relaxing rather than sedating, and it is often taken in the evening for that reason. Others notice nothing. Our formula pairs it with Rhodiola, which tends in the other direction, which is why we suggest splitting the dose and seeing which balance suits you.

Can I take it if I'm on the contraceptive pill?

We do not recommend Hormone Health alongside the combined contraceptive pill or the progestogen-only "mini pill", because the Chaste Tree (Vitex agnus-castus) extract may interfere with how hormonal contraceptives work. The Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration has issued a safety alert citing case reports of unintended pregnancy in women using a progestogen-only pill simultaneously with Vitex. Use additional non-hormonal contraception, or pause Hormone Health, and speak to your GP if in doubt.

Can I take it during pregnancy, breastfeeding or while trying to conceive?

No. Hormone Health is not suitable during pregnancy, while trying to conceive, or while breastfeeding. Several of the botanicals (Chaste Tree, Wild Yam, Ashwagandha) are traditionally avoided in these life stages. If you're planning a pregnancy, stop taking Hormone Health and speak to your GP or a nutritional therapist for a TTC-specific approach.

I take levothyroxine or have a thyroid condition. Is it safe?

Speak to your GP before starting. Ashwagandha has been shown in clinical studies to influence thyroid hormone levels (lowering TSH, raising T3 and T4), which means it may alter how thyroid medication works. The UK Food Standards Agency has asked the Committee on Toxicity to assess the safety of ashwagandha in food supplements; that assessment is ongoing and we are monitoring it.

I've had, or am at risk of, a hormone-sensitive cancer. Is it safe?

No. Wild Yam, Chaste Tree and Maca should be avoided if you have, or have had, a hormone-sensitive condition such as breast, ovarian or uterine cancer, or endometriosis or uterine fibroids, unless your specialist explicitly clears it. Always speak to your oncology or specialist team before starting any new supplement.

Is it safe to take alongside HRT?

Generally yes. None of the 11 ingredients have known direct contraindications with HRT, there are no phytoestrogens in the formula, and many women in our community take both. We always recommend you speak to your prescribing GP before combining any food supplement with prescription medication. Hormone Health is a food supplement, not a medicine, and is not an alternative to HRT.

Does it contain any allergens?

Hormone Health is free from gluten, wheat, dairy, lactose, soya, nuts, peanuts, eggs, fish and shellfish. It's manufactured on a site that may handle other allergens, so always check the carton for the most up-to-date allergen statement before use.

Ingredients & formulation

Is it vegan?

Yes. The capsule shell is plant-based hydroxypropylmethylcellulose (HPMC) and all 11 ingredients are plant-derived or synthesised. No animal-derived gelatine, no fish oil, no dairy. Suitable for vegans and vegetarians.

Why doesn't it contain soya isoflavones or red clover?

Soya isoflavones and red clover are phytoestrogens, plant compounds that mimic oestrogen in the body. We deliberately built Hormone Health without them, so it's a clean fit for women avoiding phytoestrogens for personal preference or medical reasons. Instead, the formula leans on adaptogens (Ashwagandha, Rhodiola), women's-cycle botanicals (Chaste Tree, Wild Yam, Maca, Fennel) and a single targeted vitamin (B6).

Where is it made?

Hormone Health is manufactured in the UK in a facility certified to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards. Every batch is tested for ingredient identity, potency and contaminants before release.

How it compares

Is this a menopause supplement or a perimenopause supplement?

A perimenopause supplement first, and a daily hormone health supplement for the years before it: the late 30s and early 40s, PMS, after a pregnancy. Vitamin B6's authorised claims apply across all of those life stages, and Chaste Tree, Wild Yam and Maca cover the cycle and perimenopause side. It is not built as a post-menopause product; if your periods stopped more than a year ago, a formula built around vitamin D and calcium may suit you better.

Is this an alternative to HRT?

No. Hormone Health is a food supplement, not a medicine, and is not an alternative to HRT. HRT is a prescription treatment that should be discussed with your GP. This is designed to sit alongside a balanced diet and lifestyle as a daily nutritional foundation. For some women that's instead of HRT, because HRT isn't appropriate or wanted, and for others it's alongside it.

How does it compare to other UK women's hormone supplements?

Most established UK women's hormone supplements rely on phytoestrogens (soya isoflavones, red clover, dong quai). Hormone Health is built around adaptogens (KSM-66 Ashwagandha, Rhodiola), women's-cycle botanicals (Chaste Tree, Wild Yam, Maca, Fennel) and Vitamin B6. That means it's a better fit if you're avoiding phytoestrogens, and a poorer fit if you specifically want isoflavone-led support.

Can men take it?

Hormone Health is formulated for women. While Ashwagandha, Rhodiola, Maca and Vitamin B6 have potential relevance for men too, the Chaste Tree (Vitex) component is traditionally used for the female cycle and isn't appropriate for daily use by men.

Ordering, refunds & subscriptions

What's the refund policy?

We offer a 60-day money-back guarantee. If you've taken it daily for at least 30 days and you're not seeing the benefits you hoped for, contact us at hello@flissie.com and we'll refund your first tub. We respond within one working day.

Is there a subscription option, and how does it work?

Yes. Your first month is free, then £29 a month for a 30-day supply. We email you before the first £29 charge, and subscriptions are flexible: skip, pause or cancel any time through your account or by email to hello@flissie.com.

I got a free tub with my boxers. Am I signed up to anything?

No. Gift tubs are a one-off with no auto-renew and nothing to cancel. If you finish it and want to continue, you can start a subscription at any time from this page.

Is this the same product that was listed as Cortisol & Stress Support?

Yes. Same formula, same doses, same batch testing. The tub has always said Hormone Health; for part of 2026 the listing called it Cortisol & Stress Support, and we changed the listing back to match the tub and the formula, which is built for hormone health first.

Is delivery free?

Yes. Hormone Health ships free to all UK addresses, no minimum spend. International orders are calculated at checkout based on destination. Import duties or taxes, if applicable in your country, are the recipient's responsibility.

Science, quality & standards

From the team behind FSC-certified bamboo Flissie boxers, the women's comfort brand applying the same standards to daily health.

UK-designed formulation

Hormonal Balance was formulated in the UK by the team behind Flissie's FSC-certified bamboo boxer shorts, the same brand built around women's daily comfort, now applied to daily health. Every ingredient and dose was chosen to anchor the blend around Vitamin B6's authorised health claims for hormonal activity, energy and mood, layered with ten traditionally-used botanicals at clinically researched doses.

GMP and ISO 9001 certified manufacturing

Hormonal Balance is manufactured to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and ISO 9001 standards, the same quality frameworks that govern licensed medicines and pharmaceutical-grade production. These cover ingredient sourcing, blending consistency, contamination control, batch traceability and quality assurance at every stage. Capsules are stored in cool, dark, dry conditions to preserve potency from manufacture through to your front door.

Standardised botanical extracts

Each botanical in Hormonal Balance is supplied as a standardised extract, meaning the active compounds are concentrated to a guaranteed level in every batch, not the variable potency you'd get from raw powdered herbs. Our Ashwagandha is KSM-66, the most clinically researched, full-spectrum root extract on the market. Our Fennel, Maca, Chamomile, Rhodiola, Chaste Tree, Wild Yam, Broccoli Sprout and Rosemary are all supplied as 8:1 to 20:1 standardised extracts, so every capsule delivers consistent potency from the first bottle to the last.

Purity guaranteed, every batch independently tested

Free from fillers, contaminants and artificial additives. Every batch is independently tested for ingredient identity, heavy metals (lead, arsenic, cadmium, mercury), pesticide residues, and microbiological contaminants, meeting or exceeding international quality standards. Test certificates are kept on file and available on request.

Vegan, allergen-aware & clean-label

The capsule shell is plant-based hydroxypropylmethylcellulose (HPMC) rather than animal-derived gelatine. All 11 active ingredients are plant-derived or plant-sourced, with no fish oil, no dairy, no eggs and no honey. Hormonal Balance is free from gluten, wheat, dairy, lactose, soya, nuts, peanuts and shellfish - suitable for vegans, vegetarians and most common dietary sensitivities.

From the women's comfort brand

Flissie is the women's brand built on comfort that genuinely works, anti-chafing bamboo boxers, sized UK 8 to 30, in FSC-certified bamboo, OEKO-TEX Standard 100 fabric, manufactured to ISO 14001 environmental standards. Hormonal Balance is our first step into women's daily health, and we've held it to the same standard: thoughtfully formulated, transparently labelled, made for women who want products that work without the hype.
