Bamboo vs. Cotton

by Matthew Banks on Feb 12, 2022
Bamboo vs. Cotton - Flissie

Bamboo is one of the most sustainable fabrics in the world, and with good reason. The plant grows quickly without any need for fertilizers or pesticides, so it doesn't take up land that could be used to grow food crops. It also absorbs more carbon dioxide than cotton plants do, which means you can feel better about wearing clothes made from bamboo. This article explores some of the reasons why bamboo is a great choice when it comes to clothing!

Bamboo vs Cotton

  • Bamboo fabric is eco-friendly and sustainable, unlike cotton which takes up land that could be used to grow food crops.
  • It also absorbs more carbon dioxide than any other plant on the planet! So you can feel better about wearing clothes made from bamboo.
  • Bamboo fibers are softer, cooler in summer and warmer in winter because it regulates temperature wonderfully. It is a great option for people who live in climates with extreme temperature changes.
  • Bamboo fabric can be easily dyed, and since it's naturally anti-microbial doesn't need to go through the harsh chemical dyeing process as cotton does. It has been tested as hypoallergenic making it wearable by those with sensitive skin conditions such as dermatitis, eczema, dry skin and rosacea.
  • The fabric is also stronger and more durable than cotton. It doesn't pill or fade easily, making it a great investment for your wardrobe.
  • Cotton uses so much more water than bamboo to grow - it can take up to 700 gallons of water to produce just one pound of cotton! Bamboo, on the other hand, only needs about three gallons of water for every pound it produces.
  • Cotton also damages the soil it grows in, while bamboo helps to improve the soil quality. Cotton production destroys the soil's nutrients which is why it needs a lot of chemicals, including fertilizers and pesticides, which can be harmful to both people and the environment.

Women's bamboo underwear is a great choice for eco-conscious shoppers who want beautiful, high-quality clothes that are good for the planet so next time you're looking to buy some new clothes, consider bamboo as an eco-friendly option! You'll be helping the planet and also getting some amazing clothes in the process.

Soft, breathable, comfy

I bought the black 9-inch leg in a large to accommodate my pregnancy bump. They are really silky soft and breathable, exactly what I wanted to avoid chafing. They are a little loose on the thigh as I am usually a medium, but it doesn't make them any less comfortable and means I will hopefully be able to wear them throughout the pregnancy and post-partum. If they made a version for periods that was super absorbent or had a pouch for a reusable pad, I would buy even more.
